Breast lift (mastopexy) · Istanbul & Izmir, Turkey

Breast lift in Istanbul and Izmir, Turkey, without adding implant volume

A breast lift (mastopexy) repositions breast tissue and removes excess skin to correct sagging caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss — something an implant alone cannot fix, since it adds volume, not position. JFS Clinic plans your mastopexy in Istanbul or Izmir, Turkey; it is priced with a personal quote once your surgeon has reviewed your photos.

Your price and your dates

Breast lift Turkey cost and available dates

A breast lift is quoted personally rather than sold as a fixed package, since the incision pattern and surgical time vary with how much skin needs tightening. Send two photos and your coordinator comes back with a personal plan and the dates your surgeon has open. Most patients land in Istanbul or Izmir within about a week, on dates they pick themselves.

Am I a candidate?

Who is a good candidate for a breast lift?

You are usually a good candidate if your breasts have dropped or lost firmness, your nipple now sits level with or below the breast crease, your weight is stable and your health allows a general anaesthetic. At JFS, Op. Dr. Onur Evren Yılmaz first reviews two photos of your chest, then confirms the incision plan in Istanbul or Izmir on Day 2, after blood tests and measurements.

Breast ptosis, why sagging does not respond to exercise

Breast tissue is held up by skin and internal ligaments, not muscle, so no amount of chest training lifts a breast that has dropped — pec exercises build the muscle underneath, they do not reposition the gland or tighten the skin envelope around it. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight changes stretch that skin and those ligaments past the point where they spring back on their own, and ageing adds the same effect more gradually. Once the nipple sits at or below the breast crease, called breast ptosis, repositioning the tissue and removing the excess skin is the only way to reverse it — an implant alone cannot, since it adds fullness rather than lifting what is already there.

Signs a breast lift may suit you

  • Breasts that sit lower than they used to, with the nipple level with or below the crease.
  • Skin that looks stretched, flattened or less full than it once was, often after pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • A noticeable difference in position or shape between your left and right breast.
  • You want your natural volume repositioned, rather than added to with an implant.
  • Your weight has stayed stable for several months and you are in good general health for a general anaesthetic.

What to discuss at your breast lift consultation

  • Which incision pattern — periareolar, vertical or anchor — matches how far your breasts have dropped.
  • Whether adding an implant in the same operation suits your goals (see Breast Augmentation with Lift).
  • Where your scars will sit and how your surgeon plans to keep them as discreet as possible.
  • Whether the nipple and areola will be repositioned, and any change to nipple sensation to expect.
  • Your full medical history, including any previous breast surgery or family history of breast cancer.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis. Your surgeon makes the final call once they have seen your photos and health history.

Not every breast lift is the same

Types of breast lift, periareolar, vertical and anchor incisions

The incision pattern is set by how far your breasts have dropped, not by preference. Your surgeon measures the distance from your nipple to the breast crease and the amount of loose skin on Day 2, then marks whichever of the three patterns moves the least amount of skin to get the result.

  1. 1Periareolar incision around the areola
  2. 2Vertical incision down to the crease
  3. 3Crease incision for an anchor lift
  4. 4Nipple and areola raised higher

How a breast lift is done

Breast lift incisions compared
PatternBest forIncisionMain difference
Periareolar (donut)Mild sagging, nipple only slightly lowAround the edge of the areolaShortest scar, least skin removed
Vertical (lollipop)Most commonModerate sagging, nipple at or just below the creaseAround the areola, down to the creaseBalances scar length against how much lift it achieves
Anchor (inverted-T)Significant sagging, a lot of excess lower-pole skinAround the areola, down to and along the creaseRemoves the most skin, longest scar

Exact incision length and position depend on how far your breasts have dropped — your surgeon marks the plan with you before surgery.

Vertical vs anchor breast lift, how your surgeon decides

The choice is not about what you ask for, it is about what your nipple position and skin laxity show at the consultation. Your surgeon measures the distance from your nipple to the breast crease, pinches the excess lower-pole skin and checks how your breasts sit when you lean forward, before suggesting a pattern rather than letting you pick one from a photo.

A vertical lift is usually suggested when the nipple sits close to or just below the crease and the excess skin is limited enough that a horizontal scar along the crease is not needed. An anchor lift is considered when sagging is more significant and skin has to be removed both vertically and horizontally, since trying to force that much tissue through a shorter scar tends to leave an uneven result.

If you are also considering an implant, placement follows the same logic: your surgeon decides whether the pocket is prepared before or after the skin is tightened, since sequencing affects how evenly the final shape sits. This is confirmed at your consultation rather than estimated from photos alone.

What can delay your breast lift date

Being able to travel within a week does not mean you should if your body is not ready yet, or your plan is not fully settled. Several factors decide your safest date, and your surgeon reviews each one before the operation is confirmed. If your blood tests or the Day 2 consultation suggest waiting would be safer, your date is moved. Your safety comes before the booking.

What can move your surgery date
FactorWhy it mattersWhat usually happens
Smoking or nicotineNicotine narrows blood vessels and slows healing along the incisionYou are asked to stop for several weeks before and after surgery
Pregnancy or breastfeedingBreast tissue and size keep changing until both are finishedSurgery waits until breastfeeding has ended and weight is stable
Weight still changingLosing more weight later can let the skin drop againSurgery is planned once your weight has been stable for a while
Blood thinners and some supplementsThey can increase bleeding during and after surgeryYour surgeon tells you what to pause and when. Never stop prescribed medication without your own doctor's advice
A breast screening or mammogram is dueA baseline scan matters more for patients over 40 or with a family historyYour surgeon may ask for recent results, or arrange one, before surgery

If you live in the UK, the NHS rarely funds a breast lift, because it is usually considered a cosmetic operation, so most people compare private clinics at home and abroad. Wherever you choose to go, ask three questions before you book: how quickly you can be seen, what happens if a test result delays your surgery, and who looks after you once you are home.

What changes the price: which incision pattern your surgeon uses — an anchor lift takes longer than a periareolar lift — and whether you add an implant in the same operation, which moves the plan to the Breast Augmentation with Lift package. Your personal quote is set once your surgeon has reviewed your photos and your Day 2 consultation notes.

The operation

How a breast lift is done, step by step

On Day 3 it follows the four steps drawn below: the incision pattern agreed on Day 2, the breast tissue reshaped internally, the nipple and areola repositioned higher, then the excess skin removed and the incision closed.

Your breast lift starts under general anaesthesia, so you are fully asleep for the whole operation. Before you go under, your surgeon marks your chest while you are still standing — tracing the incision pattern and the new nipple position agreed on Day 2, so the plan you discussed carries straight through to the operating table.

The operation itself begins with the incision, following whichever pattern — periareolar, vertical or anchor — was marked the day before. Your surgeon then reshapes the breast tissue from the inside, lifting and repositioning the gland on the chest wall rather than simply pulling the skin tighter.

Inside the lift

Breast lift in four steps
  1. 1Incision markedThe agreed pattern is marked while you stand upright.
  2. 2Breast tissue reshapedThe gland is lifted and reshaped on the chest wall.
  3. 3Nipple repositioned higherThe nipple and areola move to a natural new position.
  4. 4Excess skin removed and closedLoose skin is trimmed and the incision closed in layers.

Breast lift tissue repositioning

Once the breast tissue sits in its new, higher position, your surgeon moves the nipple and areola — kept attached to their own blood and nerve supply throughout — to a level that matches the new breast shape, then stitches them into place through a small circular incision. Both sides are checked from several angles, with you lying in different positions during surgery, so that position and size look even once swelling settles.

The excess skin that remains is then trimmed along the marked pattern, tightening the envelope around the repositioned tissue. The incision is closed in layers — deeper sutures take the tension off the skin so the scar heals as thin as possible, then finer stitches close the surface around the areola and down to the crease, depending on the pattern used. A support bra is fitted before you wake up, holding everything in place from the moment you open your eyes.

Throughout the operation an anaesthetist watches your heart rate, oxygen levels and blood pressure, adjusting your anaesthesia as the surgery moves between stages — tissue reshaping, nipple repositioning and closure each take a different amount of time depending on the pattern chosen. A standard breast lift typically takes around two to three hours in total; adding an implant or working with more significant sagging can extend this.

Once the dressing and support bra are on, you are moved to a recovery area where nursing staff watch you wake from the anaesthetic before you go to your hospital room for your one night under observation. Most patients feel tight and sore rather than sharply painful at this stage, and pain relief is adjusted through the night as needed.

Recovery, day by day

Breast lift recovery time, week by week

Your first week is in Istanbul or Izmir: a night in hospital, five in the hotel and a Day 6 check-up before flying home. Move the slider to see how most patients feel, what they can manage and what to avoid at each point.

Recovery days at the hotel, wearing your support bra.

Recovery from a breast lift happens in three broad phases. The first week is about protecting the repositioned tissue and letting the incisions settle — you keep your arms low, sleep propped up on your back and let the support bra do its job. Weeks two to six are about swelling going down and the breasts starting to soften into a more natural shape, which is usually when people feel ready for a desk job again. From six weeks onward, the focus shifts from healing to the shape and scars settling into their final form.

The support bra is not just comfort — it holds the repositioned tissue in place while the deeper sutures take hold, which is why it stays on day and night for the first stretch and only moves to part-time wear once your surgeon is confident the shape has settled. Some patients notice temporary changes in nipple sensation while the nerves heal, which usually settles over the following months. Most people manage with over-the-counter pain relief after the first few days.

What to expect

Breast lift results and scar healing

Many patients see the change early, but the settled shape takes longer: most swelling is gone by about week six, the breasts have usually softened into a more natural position by month three, when you share progress photos with your coordinator, and the final shape and scars take six to twelve months. Any temporary change in nipple sensation usually settles over the same period as the nerves heal.

The scars, placed around the areola and, depending on the pattern used, down to and along the breast crease, usually start pink, slightly raised and firm to the touch, softening over the following weeks. Keeping them covered from direct sun during the first year and following your surgeon's scar-care advice helps them settle into the thin, pale lines most patients see eventually — though how quickly a scar matures still depends on your own skin.

Results vary from patient to patient. Your surgeon will tell you what is realistic for your body at the consultation.

Questions

Breast lift in Turkey, frequently asked questions

How much does a breast lift cost in Turkey?

JFS Clinic does not sell a fixed breast lift package, because the surgical time depends on the incision pattern and how much skin needs removing. Instead, you send two photos and your surgeon sends back a personal quote covering surgery, your hospital night, hotel nights and transfers. Combining it with an implant changes the plan to the Breast Augmentation with Lift package.

See all package prices →
How soon can I have a breast lift in Turkey?

Most JFS patients are operated on within about a week of their very first message. You send two photos, front and side, because your surgeon first needs to estimate how far the nipple sits below the breast crease; you then get back a personal plan with the dates on offer and pick when to travel. Your surgeon only confirms the date after your blood tests and the face-to-face consultation in Istanbul or Izmir, moving it if waiting would be the safer choice.

From first message to surgery →
Can I get a breast lift on the NHS?

Rarely. The NHS usually treats a breast lift as a cosmetic operation and funds it only in exceptional circumstances, such as alongside reconstruction after breast cancer surgery, decided by your local health board. Most people in the UK end up comparing private clinics, at home and abroad, on surgeon, hospital, aftercare and overall cost.

Is it safe to have a breast lift in Turkey?

Safety depends on the surgeon and the hospital, not on the country. Op. Dr. Onur Evren Yılmaz is a specialist plastic surgeon operating in a hospital licensed for international patients, and JFS Clinic is licensed for health tourism. Blood tests and a pre-operative check on Day 2 confirm you are fit for a general anaesthetic before your surgery is scheduled. Before you book, ask about your surgeon's qualifications, the hospital's licence, the aftercare plan and whether the planned incision matches how far you have sagged, since a pattern that is too small for the skin excess tends to drop again.

Where is the best country to get a breast lift?

No country can honestly claim to be the best for every patient, so compare clinics on standard points: the surgeon's specialist training and experience with reshaping breast tissue without an implant, a hospital licensed for international patients, a written price stating what it includes, and follow-up once you are home. At JFS Clinic you see your surgeon's name before booking and meet them before surgery. Op. Dr. Onur Evren Yılmaz, a plastic surgeon who completed his specialist training in 2012, operates, and your coordinator passes questions and photos from home to him on WhatsApp.

Is a breast lift worth it?

Whether it is worth it depends on what is bothering you and what a lift can actually change. A breast lift repositions tissue and tightens skin, so it suits sagging caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss; it does not add fullness the way an implant does. Many patients are satisfied once they understand that distinction beforehand, which is exactly what your consultation is for.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is a breast lift?

You are asleep for the operation itself. Afterwards, most patients describe the first few days as tight and sore rather than sharply painful, similar to a hard chest workout, easing step by step as the swelling goes down. Pain relief is provided, and how it feels varies from person to person.

What's the difference between periareolar, vertical and anchor breast lift incisions?

With a lift alone there is no implant to support the new shape, so the incision is chosen by how far your nipple sits below the breast crease and how much skin has to go. As a general guide, a periareolar (donut) scar around the areola is used when the nipple sits less than about 1 cm below the crease, a vertical (lollipop) scar for roughly 1-3 cm, and an anchor (inverted-T) scar beyond that. Your surgeon confirms the pattern after measuring you in Istanbul or Izmir. If you also want more volume, see breast lift with implants.

Can a breast lift be combined with an implant?

Yes. When you need volume as well as lift, the two are done in one operation, called breast lift with implants (augmentation-mastopexy); that page covers its price and recovery.

When can I fly home after a breast lift?

Usually on day 6 or 7, after your surgeon checks the nipple position and incision lines. With no implant there is no pocket to protect, but keep your arms low, wear your support bra and let someone else lift your luggage.

How soon will I see my final result?

Initial swelling takes several weeks to settle, and breast shape usually continues to soften into a more natural position over the following months. Most people see their result taking shape by around three months, with the scars still fading for up to a year. Results vary from patient to patient. Your surgeon will tell you what is realistic for your body at the consultation.
